It’s INFINITY’s goal to excite, inspire, inform, and fascinate our guests about science, engineering, and exploration. In everything we do — classes, camps, registrations, transactions, marketing — we strive to ensure your online safety and privacy. We are committed to providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment on the Internet for all of our visitors, complying fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). Notice of our information practices are explained below as required by the Federal Trade Commission’s Children’s Online Privacy Protection Regulations.

Information Collected

As with all internet web sites, INFINITY Science Center collects some information indirectly from all users visiting our web site. For example:

System Logging
  • Our web server and e-mail systems keep log files about transactions.

  • We do analyze our web logs to calculate statistics on which pages are visited and how long visitors stay on our site.

  • We do not track individuals with this information. We are required to retain this information for the security of our website and online service.

  • E-mail addresses of messages sent from our system are logged as well. These logs are not viewed unless necessary for security purposes.

Internet Addresses
  • INFINITY gathers Internet Protocol Address (IP Addresses) and pages viewed as a part of the logging system within the web server.

  • When calculating statistics on visitors and pages viewed, IP Addresses are used in broad calculations only. IP Addresses are never used to personally identify users unless a security breach warrants an investigation.

Use of Cookies
  • INFINITY may use session cookies for visitors to our site. A session cookie is a temporary file stored in the browser that is deleted when it either expires or the browser is closed.

  • No privacy or personal information is stored in a cookie from this site.

  • We may store a temporary number which helps us understand traffic patterns or help us control access to restricted pages.

  • Some features of our site may not funciton properly without session cookies being enabled.

Email Marketing Information Collected and How it is Used

  • INFINITY collects and maintains an opt-in submission e-mail subscription list via Constant Contact which we use to send e-mail messages about new and interesting earth and space science, local events and membership opportunities.

  • Unless otherwise indicated, information is collected via a web page form.

  • First names are collected for the purpose of personally addressing e-mail messages to the child.

  • The e-mail address is collected to allow us to send messages about the science center or any website updates.

  • Postal zip codes are collected to help us correlate web vs. attendance audience metrics and to find clues about the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. They are never correlated to personal information for reasons other than providing INFINITY with demographic data.

  • The format of the message is collected indirectly through the first e-mail message. The format can either be plain text, or like a web page, in color.

  • We do not disclose any of this information to third parties.

Third Party Disclosure

  • We do not sell information to third parties; however, information is sometimes provided to third parties that are participating with us in special events, projects or promotions.

Participation

  • INFINITY does not prohibit the participation in any activity based on requiring more personal information than is necessary.

Review or Deletion of Privacy Data

  • INFINITY will make a child’s information available for review by the child’s parent. Any parent wishing to review or have personally identifiable information about his or her child deleted should telephone the provided contact.
